Wael Arakji leads Al Riyadi to a dominating title in first-ever BCL Asia

DUBAI (UAE) - Al Riyadi claim the Basketball Champions League Asia 2024 trophy with an 122-96 win over Shabab Al Ahli, making it their third time winning Asia's flagship club competition.

They are now set to represent Asia in the upcoming FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2024 later this year.

Al Riyadi completed a dominating run by scoring a tournament-high total of points while also knocking down 18 three-pointers, also a tournament-high. Wael Arakji erupted with a personal tournament-high of 31 points along with 9 assists in front of a sold-out crowd at the Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Sports Hall.

Shabab Al Ahli's Sir'Dominic Pointer recorded 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists for the host.

Wael Arakji had twice the reason to celebrate as he was also named the MVP for an outstanding performance throughout the competition.

He was joined by Riyadi teammate Thon Maker, Marcus Georges-Hunt and Travin Thibodeaux from Shabab Al Ahli, and Sina Vahedi from Shahrdary Gorgan on the Tournament Top Five.

In the Third-Place Game, the Hiroshima Dragonflies claimed a medal in their first appearance in the competition with an 81-76 win over Shahrydary Gorgan. Takuto Nakamura put on a clutch performance, scoring the Dragonflies' last ten points to send Gorgan home without a medal.
