Quimsa open BCLA campaign with blowout victory

SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO (Argentina) – Quimsa got their Basketball Champions League Americas season started off in a big way with a 112-65 win over Sao Paulo FC in Estadio Ciudad.


This game was all Quimsa, as they rolled out to a big lead in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to their huge 47-point win, even leading by as many as 52 points.

Brandon Robinson paced the winners with 26 points and 8 rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting from the field for an efficiency of 28, while three other players also had an efficiency of at least 20.

Seven players scored in double figures including Robinson, Fortunato Rolfi (13 points), Sebastian Acevedo (13 points), Bruno Samsimoni (12 points), Tayavek Gallizzi (12 points), Juan Brussino (10 points) and Eduardo Vasirani (10 points).

Quimsa had a decisive edge over Sao Paulo in several stats including bench points, 54-13, 24-10 in assists, 42-20 in points in the paint and they also shot 58.2 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range.


Sao Paulo had four players reach double figure scoring led by Tyrone Curnell who finished with 16 points and 3 assists on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.

Quimsa will look to make it 2-0 when they play next on Monday, while Sao Paulo FC will look to get into the win column when they turn around and play Sunday night in Group B action.
