Serbia call up top names for high-stakes November games

BELGRADE (Serbia) - Veteran leaders Vladimir Lucic, Vasilije Micic and Nikola Kalinic highlight the list of 24 players nominated by Svetislav Pesic for Serbia's roster for the crucial Window 5 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers.

The head coach hopes to have the strongest roster possible for the next games - at Great Britain on November 11 and home versus Turkey on November 14 - as Serbia face a stern challenge to qualify for next summer's showcase in Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.

Serbia currently sit fourth in their Second Round Group I with a 3-3 record, even with Belgium, who defeated the Serbs twice in First Round action. With only the top three teams from each group qualifying, Serbia face a must-win game against Great Britain who are 1-5 in the group. The showdown with Turkey will be just as crucial as the Turks enter the window with a 2-4 mark.
