Former All-Star Thomas back with USA for November window

CHIHUAHUA CITY (Mexico) - USA Basketball have injected a strong dose of anticipation and excitement to their roster in recent days by adding former NBA All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas, Justin Anderson and Will Davis II for this week's first two in games in the Americas Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

The three will play for the Americans on Sunday against Cuba and then Monday against Mexico in the Chihuahua City bubble.

Thomas, an NBA All-Star in both 2016 and 2017 and also All-NBA Second Team in 17 after leading Boston to the top seed of the Eastern Conference post-season, and Davis will be familiar faces for the Mexicans.

Each played against them earlier this year in the AmeriCup Qualifying window in February when the USA won, 95-76. Davis was particularly good in that game, scoring 10 points, corralling five rebounds and blocking a shot in 20 minutes.

Thomas also played in the USA's 93-77 triumph over the Bahamas in the same window and averaged a team-high 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists over the two games.

Davis II, who played against Mexico earlier this year, has replaced Jordan Bell on the USA roster

Anderson, meanwhile, was part of the February 2020 USA Basketball Men’s AmeriCup Qualifying Team that went 2-0 and averaged 14.0 points and five rebounds.

Also on the USA roster are Brian Bowen II, Josh Gray, Shaq Harrison, Haywood Highsmith, BJ Johnson, Luke Kornet, Chasson Randle, Zavier Simpson and Emanuel Terry are also on the roster.

DaQuan Jeffries, Frank Mason III and Jordan Bell were in the initial squad but are now not taking part in this window.
