BEIRUT (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers) - Star Lebanese guard Wael Arakji is set to return to action soon and may get one step closer to his dream of playing at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.

"It's my dream to play at the World Cup," said Arakji, Lebanon's phenomenal point guard who was their top player in the Asian Qualifiers before getting downed by an injury early in 2018. Right now, he is projected to soon return to both his club team in the Lebanese Basketball League (LBL) and the national team.

In an Instagram  post, the 24-year-old  told his followers that he was just counting the days and that he couldn't wait to be back.

And just in time, too, as the Cedars are in dire need of a lift for the next Asian Qualifiers window.

If Arakji does make his comeback sooner rather than later, then that augurs well for the Lebanese, who've been lacking a consistently stable presence at the point guard position throughout the second round of the Asian Qualifiers, and with FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 qualification still up in the air, he can be a potentially significant impact player for them in the final window.

Before he got sidelined, Arakji was averaging 16.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2 steals per game, making life difficult for his opponents thanks to his uncanny scoring and playmaking.

Lebanon return to Asian Qualifiers action on 22 February against New Zealand and then close their Asian Qualifiers against old foes Korea on 25 February.
