Reyes hopes Philippines will stay hungry in remaining games

BEIRUT (FIBA Asia Cup 2017) - The Philippines had another stirring victory on Day 4, but their coach believes they need to stay hungry as the Asia Cup wears on.

Gilas Pilipinas had to dig deep and rely on a decisive third quarter explosion to dispose of a pesky Iraqi side, 84-68, on Day 4 in Beirut, displaying great defense, shooting and depth en route to their second win in as many games.

Gilas got the job done, sure. They have locked the top spot in Group B even if they lose to Qatar on Day 6, and have assured themselves of a spot in the Quarter-Finals. Still, coach Chot Reyes knows their overall mission has not yet been accomplished, and they cannot let these first couple of wins get to their heads.

We have to keep the low-key attitude and have the hunger in us.- Chot Reyes

Though their game against Qatar doesn't hold much bearing anymore, Gilas cannot afford to be lulled into a state of complacency. After Day 6, each contest will be a win-or-go-home affair. Yes, they've won now, but the bigger, more significant matches have yet to be played. Gilas must stay focused and cannot be satisfied with what they have already accomplished.
