HiTech and Fubon Braves secure East Asia's two Final 8 qualifying spots
BANGKOK (Thailand) - Hitech Bangkok City and Fubon Braves have successfully secured the two available qualifying spots to the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019 from the Road to Final 8 – East Asia.
BANGKOK (Thailand) - Hitech Bangkok City and Fubon Braves have successfully secured the two available qualifying spots to the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019 from the Road to Final 8 – East Asia. The competition, which is being held in Bangkok, assures the top two teams in the standings a trip to the Final 8 round of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019.
Both teams won their first two games, clinching the top two spots in the standings of the competition.
Fubon Braves from Chinese Taipei took care of business by beating Punjab Police from India, 100-58, and SAFSA from Singapore, 100-46.
Hitech Bangkok City from the host country of Thailand also cruised through the competition. They beat SAFSA 106-52 in the opening game before sealing the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019 ticket in a 116-54 victory of Punjab Police.
Hitech Bangkok City and the Fubon Braves will be joining Guangdong Southern Tigers (Chinese Basketball Association champions), Ulsan Mobis (Korean Basketball League champions), and FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2018 runners-up Alvark Tokyo (Japanese B.League champions) at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019.
The Braves qualified as the champions of the Chinese-Taipei Super Basketball League (SBL), which was their first title ever in franchise history. They will be the 3rd club to represent Chinese-Taipei in the Champions Cup following Pauian Archiland and Dacin Tigers. This will be their first time playing at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup.
Hitech Bangkok City will also be making their debut at the Champions Cup, qualifying as champions of the Thailand Basketball League (TBL). It was Hitech’s 2nd TBL title in franchise history, their first in three consecutive trips to the Finals. They will be the 5th team from Thailand to play at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup with Mono Vampire Basketball Club representing in the past two editions.
