FIBA Asia Champions Cup is coming to Bangkok for the 2019 edition

BANGKOK (Thailand) – The FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019 will return to Thailand for a second consecutive year, right in the heart of the country’s capital of Bangkok.

The competition will be played from 24-29 September, featuring some of the best professional basketball clubs in Asia. Bangkok has been a prime location for basketball as of recent, serving as the location for the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup as well as the East Asia Qualifier for the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019.

Thailand also hosted the FIBA Asia Champions Cup in 2018 and the FIBA U18 Asian Championship 2018, both in Nonthaburi province.

Alvark Tokyo (Japan) of the B.League are the only team to return from last year’s competition. The 2018 finalists went on an inspiring run all the way to the championship game before being slightly edged out, 68-64 by Iran's Petrochimi. Alvark were able to repeat as B.league champions this season, giving them a shot at redemption during the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2019.

Ulsan Mobis (Korea) and Guangdong Southern Tigers (China) did not play in the Asia Champions Cup last year, but have qualified to the Final 8 this year as their respective league champions.
