CHENZHOU (FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2017) - CHooks-To-Go had a strong fourth quarter to repulse a pesky Mono Vampire squad, 115-102, on Day 3 of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2017.
The Filipinos and Thais engaged in a shootout throughout the first three periods of the game before coach Chot Reyes's wards were able to get bigger separation in the final frame. Four players scored 17 points or more for Chooks-To-Go, led by Carl Bryan Cruz, who bounced back from an anemic performance yesterday to lead his squad with 28 points on the back of 8 three-pointers.
Foreign player Isaiah Austin did well again for the Philippines, bucking an injury to put up 27 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks. Lead playmaker Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng also impresed with 24 and 17 points respectively.
On the other end, Mono Vampire leaned heavily on foreign players Mike Singletary and Jason Brickman to stay within striking distance of Chooks-To-Go. Singletary tallied 32 points and 10 rebounds, while Brickman recorded another near-triple-double line of 17 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists.
Chooks-To-Go get a breather on Day 4 before they finish their group phase assignments against Petrochimi Iran on Day 5. Mono Vampire, meanwhile, next take on the Iranians tomorrow.
