Australia, China, New Zealand and Philippines successfully secure trips to FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019
NONTHABURI (FIBA U18 Asian Championship) – Australia, China, Philippines, and New Zealand all claimed victories in the Quarter-Finals to secure a ticket to the FIBA U19 World Cup in 2019.
NONTHABURI (FIBA U18 Asian Championship) – Australia, China, New Zealand and Philippines all claimed victories in the Quarter Finals to secure a ticket to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup in 2019.
The FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019 will be the 14th edition of the tournament. Among the four teams, New Zealand is the only team that is making a returning appearance which is also their third time playing at the World Cup.
China and Australia have rarely missed the event with only three absences between them. However, they are making a return to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup after both missed out on the 2017 tourney.
The Philippines are making their second appearance ever and first since the inaugural 1979 tournament in Brazil.
The four teams will join a 16 team playing field which already include:
- The undetermined Host Nation
- United States of America, Canada, Argentina, Puerto Rico (Americas)
- Serbia, Latvia, France, Russia, Lithuania (Europe)
- And two more teams from FIBA U18 African Championship
Furthermore, the teams have qualified for the Semi Finals of the FIBA U18 Asian Championship and will continue to play to determine the final standings. The placings from the FIBA U18 Asian Championship will determine the groups they will be drawn into at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019.
