Philippines v China
Batang Gilas very nearly pulled the rug from under Korea yesterday, while China found themselves floored after a spirited game from hosts Iran. Both would definitely love to bounce back in this match, but China are the unquestionable favorites after handing Philippines a beat-down in group play, 95-66.
Chinese Taipei v India
Chinese Taipei failed to advance after they were outgunned by Japan yesterday, and they will try to vent their ire on the Indians, who also lost their Quarter-Final match to Lebanon. The Taipei quintet are heavily favored here as they also defeated this same Indian squad, 93-79, in group play.
Japan v Lebanon
The Japanese have a chance to do two things here: avenge their 73-51 group play loss to Lebanon and advance to their first U18 Final in 26 years. Top guns Tensho Sugimoto and Yudai Nishida have to be in prime form, though, especially since the Lebanese are coming in supremely confident after blowing out India in the Quarter-Finals. Expect big games from Mark Alkhoury and Ali Mansour for the U18 Cedars.
Korea v Iran
Korea had to rally late in the fourth quarter to turn back a hard-fighting Philippine side, and their prize is a knockout affair with the resurgent Iranians, who have won their last three games. If the hosts can draw inspired performances from Mohammad Jafari, Amirhossein Azari and Amirhosein Khandanpoor, then Iran may just make a return trip to the U18 Final.
