Chinese Taipei will take on defending champions China, Philippines, Iraq and Thailand in Group A of the FIBA Asia U18 Championship. Chinese Taipei reached the Semi-Finals at the last edition of the competition in Qatar two years ago, but were beaten at that stage by eventual Champions China.
The 24th FIBA Asia U18 Championship, which runs from 22-31 July, is the qualifying event for the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship in Cairo with the top three teams from the 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship advancing to the U19 Worlds.
Chinese Taipei have not qualified for the U19 Worlds since 2011.
