JBC putting all the pieces together for BAL qualification

HARARE (Zimbabwe) - JBC have made significant roster additions ahead of their Elite 16 Division East campaign in Johannesburg, South Africa (21 November - 26 November).

The Harare-based club brought Senegalese centre Abdoulaye Ndoye and Nigerian big Chris Brown as they aim to become the first team from Zimbabwe to qualify for the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

With their height, both Brown (2.13m) and Ndoye (2.10m) are an upgrade to coach Addison Chiware's front-court.

The big men will most likely offer rim protection and scoring in the paint and possibly outside.

Another newcomer to the JBC roster is former Cape Town Tiger shooting guard Curtis Hollis. Twenty-five-year-old Hollis has international experience, having played in the NBA G League and other minor leagues in the USA.

Hollis has played in the Dominican Republic and Germany as well. Hollis is a solid scorer and will bring good energy to the JBC offence. The new trio will only have a week to blend in with their teammates as they are in a tough Group B.

JBC finished 2-1 in the Group Phase of the Road to BAL

JBC will be riding on a wave of confidence after their strong finish in the regional pre-qualifying tournament. Players like forward Tashinga Chiimba and Innocent Zhomwa are still part of the core that will hopefully travel to South Africa.

Chiimba's 18.3 points and Zhomwa's 13.3 points were critical in getting JBC to this stage. Chiware, who also owns the club, will hope the duo can maintain their form at the Elite 16.

While JBC have been gathering their playing pieces and preparing on the court for the Elite 16, the Zimbabwean club need financial assistance to make the trip to South Africa.

Come tip-off on November 21 the hope is the JBC will have organised themselves and make their way to Johannesburg to compete against some of Africa's best teams.
