Overview

The FIBA U18 Africa Women's Championship is the top competition for women's national youth teams.

It is organized by FIBA Africa, the Regional Office of the International Basketball Federation in Africa.

The first edition of this biennial competition, which brings together 12 national teams, took place in 1985 in Accra, Ghana.

Senegal won the first edition of the tournament.

This tournament features some of the brightest African players under the age of 18.

To date, Mali registers a record 7 titles over 14 editions of the tournament, the last of which was won in Maputo, Mozambique in 2018.

The last edition of the Championship took place in Cairo in 2020 and was won by the host country after beating Mali 68-63 in the Final game. 

This year the competition will take place in Antsirabé located 170 Km from the Madagascar capital from 5th to 14th august 2022 with 8 national teams.

The FIBA U18 Women's African Championship 2022 will serve as a qualification for the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2023 to be held in Madrid (Spain).

The event will take place from July 15 to 23, 2023 as the the best teams will be qualified.
