Final rosters confirmed ahead of 2022 FIBA U18 African Championship

 

ANTANANARIVO (Madagascar) - The final rosters of all 9 participating teams at the 2022 FIBA U18 African Championship were confirmed on the eve of the tournament, which tips off in Antananarivo, Madagascar on Thursday, August 4.

Group A: Algeria, Benin, Madagascar, Senegal 
Group B: Mali, Egypt, Guinea, Angola, Rwanda

The tournament will undergo a Group Phase, with teams from Groups A and B playing in a round-robin format. After the Group Phase, one team from Group B will be eliminated. 

The remaining contenders will move to the knock-out phase and the Quarter-Finals.

The teams from Group A will cross over with those from Group B. 

The Quarter-Finals are scheduled for Friday August 12, followed by the Semi-Finals on August 13. The Final and Classification games are scheduled on August 14.

This year's tournament will see epic clashes as Mali and Egypt, will play in Group B alongside Angola. 

The flagship event for U18 was to be held with 10 teams. Originally, Tanzania was supposed to be present in the Malagasy capital and they were later replaced by Nigeria. Unfortunately, the latter did not turn up either.
