Cote d'Ivoire shake off Uganda for second win, Egypt end Gabon's dream

CAIRO (Egypt) - Uganda on Thursday proved a tough nut to crack for Cote d'Ivoire in their last Group Phase game at the Cairo Stadium.

Cote d'Ivoire got away with 79-73, but Ugandan shooting guard Clarence Raymond Sekawu Mayengo proved too hot to handle.

The 16-year-old was responsible for 25 points, seven rebounds, one assist to lead all scorers in the game but his efforts were not good enough to turn the table against a renewed Cote d'Ivoire team.

Ivorian Pierre Marie Joseph Uzuelle Bationo helped his team with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists to his credit.

The effort was enough to help the West African side earn their second win in the Group Phase.

Earlier in the day, Algeria proved the superior side when they clashed against Chad.

However, Mbafe Kanigue Abdel-Kerim showed his intention to be a part of history in the country's first participation as he registered 17 points, one rebound, one assist to be the standout player of the day.

    Host Egypt outclassed Gabon 123-64.

Gabon's attempt to notch a win in the Group Phase came to naught despite Darcy Makambo Elysé's 28 points, nine rebounds, one assist failed to make the difference.

On Friday, Chad will face Mali to round off the Preliminary Round.
