Spain advance to fifth successive U19 Women's Worlds Semi-Final

CHEKHOV (2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship) - Spain continued their rich tradition at the 2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship after beating Belgium70-66, to make the Semi-Finals for the fifth time in a row.

Turning point: Having worked so hard to overturn a 10-point deficit during the first half, Belgium allowed Spain to wrestle away the initiative in the third quarter. That was mainly down to the aggression and offensive rebounding of Laura Quevedo who came up with 12 points in what was a decisive period. It gave Spain the cushion they needed at the end of the game.

Stats Don't Lie: Spain made their move with some key steals and finished with 13 of them.

Game Heroes: Quevedo really did bring it when it mattered most with her biggest game of the tournament harvesting 23 points and 13 rebounds for a really nice double-double. Meanwhile Angela Salvadores weighed in with 21 points.

The Bottom Line: Belgium played generally well, especially defensively. But they had a poor few minutes looking after the ball and forgot to box-out during the third quarter and paid the penalty with a first defeat. Julie Allemand, Elise Ramette and Serena-Lynn Geldof did their best to inspire their team but Belgium just came up short and will now fight to make it to fifth. Spain are getting better with each game and did a good job on the boards and really looked after the ball well. Elements they will need to retain in the last two days if they want to get back to the podium.
