Social Media Program to Level-Up Oceania National Federations

GOLD COAST (Australia) - In collaboration with the ABC International Development Program - Women in News and Sport (WINS), FIBA is offering a unique opportunity for National Federations to elevate their social media identity.

Aligning with FIBA’s global strategy to Empower National Federations and recognise Women in Basketball, the newly developed social media program will target National Federations in Oceania to identify and upskill women within the basketball community.

FIBA Executive Director - Oceania, Amanda Jenkins said that the program will pave the way for National Federations to professionalise their social media presence and assist with the promotion of basketball across the region.

“Collaborating with ABC International Development on this project has been a wonderful success for the region as we strive to empower our National Federations, and women in basketball,” Ms Jenkins said.

“For a lot of our National Federations, social media accounts are the main point of contact to disperse information and promote Basketball for Good.  This program will provide women in the region with the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the growth and development of basketball and facilitate individual professional development.”

The eight-week online program is targeted towards female representatives and will equip participants with expertise in managing and leveraging Facebook, a key platform for engaging audiences and promoting basketball growth.

Through interactive sessions led by industry experts, participants will delve into the social media landscape, discover storytelling techniques, learn audience analysis methods, understand ethical considerations, and explore the fundamentals of social media marketing.

Participants will also gain insights into personal branding, collaboration strategies, and emerging trends in the social media sphere.  This program signifies a collaborative effort by FIBA and WINS to empower women and contribute to the global growth and development of basketball.

National Federations interested in participating should submit nominations by Sunday March 10, 2024, to stacey.french@fiba.basketball.
