GENEVA (FIBA) - Serbia and Spain have reached new heights in the FIBA bwin World Ranking Women after collecting plenty of wins at the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey over the past couple of weeks.

While the title-winning United States and third-place Australia have remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, following their dominating displays at Turkey 2014, runners-up Spain won five of six games and have leapfrogged the Czech Republic, Russia and France into the No. 3 ranking.

Serbia followed their fourth-place finish at EuroBasket Women 2013 with an eighth-place at the World Championship and have climbed 13 places to No. 17.

Another big mover is Mozambique. Fresh off of making their debut in the biggest women's national team tournament, they have risen 11 spots to No. 27.

Turkey made it to the Semi-Finals at the FIBA World Championship for Women on home soil and have moved up two spots to No. 11, while Group A side Japan have risen two rungs to No. 15.

France, Brazil and China played at the World Championship and have kept their ranking.

The French came in seventh in Istanbul and stayed at No. 4.

Brazil remained at No. 7 in the ranking after an 11th-place finish at the World Championship and China came in sixth to stay at No. 8.

Belarus and Cuba made it to the Qualifications for Quarter-Finals at Turkey 2014 and have moved up one spot each to No. 9 and No. 13, respectively.

Like Mozambique, Angola made their first ever appearance at the FIBA World Championship for Women and have risen two spots to No.

Canada, the Czech Republic and Korea have each dropped a place in the ranking.

The Czechs are No. 6, Canada No. 10 and Korea No. 12.

The Canadians were the most impressive of that trio in Turkey after clinching a fifth place.

Among the sides to lose ranking points because they did not qualify for the FIBA World Championship for Women were Russia, who have fallen two places (No. 5). Countries that have plummeted because of their non-participation were Nigeria, Lithuania and Chinese Taipei.

The Africans have dropped 14 places to No. 46 and Lithuania have tumbled 10 spots to No. 35.

The ranking is calculated within the scope of a two Olympic Games cycle (including qualifying competitions at FIBA Zone level).
