CHEKHOV (2015 FIBA U19 Women’s World Championship) - France got one in the win column at the 2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship in Chekhov after fighting off a Canada comeback to prevail 58-54 in Group C.
Turning point: Having fallen behind by 13 points, the Canadians worked hard to cut the deficit and make it a one-shot game with four minutes remaining. But Marylie Limousin made a huge triple for the French and that got them rolling again and it acted as a springboard for victory in crunch time.
Stats Don't Lie: Canada were looking for answers off the bench as they struggled offensively and only got eight points, compared to 20 for France.
Game Heroes: Lousie Dambach led the way for France with 17 points, while Catherine Mosengo Masa did the hard work on the boards with 10 rebounds.
The Bottom Line: Canada will be ruing the way they came out of half-time, since they left their offence in the locker room as they suffered a near seven minute drought during the start of the third quarter. It gave them a mini mountain to climb and while they almost profited from France getting into foul trouble, they feel short and to a first loss. France will be buoyed by the relief of not going 0-2 and actually shooting the ball moderately well from downtown which was one of the aims in this game.
