NANJING (3x3) - Spain's Lucia Togores caught fire at the Shoot-Out Contest of the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China on 21 August 2014. The 17 year-old struck gold while Ela Micunovic (Slovenia) won silver and Katie-Lou Samuelson (USA) collected bronze.

After an eye-popping 7 out of 10 performance in the qualifying round, just one point shy of Dutch sharpshooter Esther Fokke, Togores confirmed in the final with another 7 point score, while being the only player to nail the 'money ball', a shot from the end of the 3x3 court worth three points.

"I am so happy," the Madrid native said.

"I didn't expect this at all. Honestly I consider two of my team-mates as better shooters than me. Plus this is the first gold medal for Spain this year at the Youth Olympics!"

Ela Micunovic (Slovenia) and Katie-Lou Samuelson (USA) both tallied 4pts in the final but the Slovenian won silver for finishing all racks six tenths of a second ahead of Samuelson, the 2014 FIBA U17 World Champion, who was making her first appearance at the event after missing 4 games because of an ankle injury.

    Final Standings

    1. Lucia Togores (Spain) 7pts (32'6")

    2. Ela Micunovic (Slovenia) 4pts (31'6")

    3. Katie-Lou Samuelson (USA) 4pts (32')

    4. Esther Fokke (Netherlands) 3pts (29'8")

All players will compete for another set of medals with their national team at the 3x3 women's event, whose final is on Tuesday 26 August.
