Ylli make history with upset over Bamberg; Balkan unbeaten with OT triumph

MUNICH (Germany) - Gameday 3 of the FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season concluded with several close battles and impressive victories packed into Wednesday's action.

Golden Eagle Ylli claimed their first-ever win in European competition in stunning fashion as they defeated previously unbeaten Brose Bamberg 81-78 on the road in Germany. 

A clutch putback by Chris Harris in the final 20 seconds secured the historic win for the side from Kosovo with Rashun Davis pacing the winners with 19 points along with 7 rebounds.

BC Balkan continued their winning streak with a 85-76 success in overtime against Keravnos BC - who now drop to 2-1. In the extra period, Pavlin Ivanov made a couple of key three-pointers as he capped off a huge scoring night to finish with a game-high 29 points. 

Ousman Krubally battled on the glass as always, pulling down 17 rebounds in an incredible 45-minute effort in defeat with teammate Deondre Burns also putting up 24 points in the loss.


BC Kalev/Cramo mounted a resilient fourth quarter comeback against Happy Casa Brindisi with 31 points from Wesley Van Beck, but it was the Italian side who held on for an 88-86 victory at home for their second win.

Meanwhile, Hapoel Haifa stole a hard-fought 56-55 win on the road against Telenet Giants Antwerp in a defensive battle that ended with a game-winning three from Amit Simhon at the buzzer to help his side improve to 2-1.


Hapoel Nofar Galil Elion downed Niners Chemnitz 78-73 in a Group A battle. Jalen Hudson led his team to victory with 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Israeli club pulled away in the fourth. Marko Filipovity put up 18 points in a losing effort, while his teammate Jonas Richter pulled down 14 rebounds.

Karhu Basket cruised to a 3-0 record in a home encounter against Sporting CP, winning 104-85. The game featured a raucous Jaye Crockett highlight dunk and he finished the night with 19 points to go with 10 rebounds. 


Gaziantep also remain undefeated as they protected home court against OCS Swans Gmunden with an 84-71 victory.

Meanwhile, Kangoeroes Basket lost their undefeated status after a dominant second half from visitors CSM CSU Oradea earned them a convincing 98-76 success. 19 points from three different Oradea players was just too much for the Belgian club with three teams now locked at 2-1 in Group E.

It's the same scenario in Group F as BC Budivelnyk Kyiv moved to 2-1 by triumphing 74-61 over Donar Groningen.

Opava downed Patrioti Levice 80-70 to defend their home court, while staying off the bottom of Group D. Dontay Bassett put up 17 points and 9 boards for the winners despite fouling out in 25 minutes. Deshawn Freeman scored 18 in the loss for the club from Slovakia.

SCMU Craiova secured a 77-63 home win against Norrkoping Dolphins to remain undefeated in Group H, while HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim ended their losing streak with a 76-61 win over CSO Voluntari as Jaren Lewis posted 15 points and 14 rebounds to power his team to its first win of the Regular Season.

Also, Anwil Wloclawek had the most dominating win on the night with an 88-58 drubbing of Egis Kormend. Josh Bostic put up 19 points and 8 rebounds in the win for the hosts in the Group G encounter.
