Hapoel Haifa, Brose Bamberg earn dramatic road wins

MUNICH (Germany) - Four road teams picked up victories on Wednesday to conclude the FIBA Europe Cup action for 2022 with two games also going right down to the wire.

Hapoel B-Cure Laser Haifa maintained their unbeaten start, beating Patrioti Levice 93-91 in a thriller away from home. Spencer Weisz gave the victors 21 points including five three-pointers with Anthony Hickey contributing 13 points and 10 assists as well as a crucial late steal.

November MVP Miha Lapornik kept his team in it with efficient scoring as usual, putting up 27 points to go with 8 assists, while Boris Bojanovsky also scored 15 points with just one miss as the hosts still await their first win of the Second Round.

Brose Bamberg overcame Keravnos BC in Cyprus, 90-87 in Group L as five players were in double figures with Jaromir Bohacik leading the way with 26 points on 8-of-14 shooting. The Czech international put his side ahead with six minutes to go and the Germans held on having won the fourth quarter 24-15.


Keravnos were typically led in rebounding by Ousman Krubally with 11, and also had 23 points from Deondre Burns to go with 6 assists in the loss. 

Meanwhile, Anwil Wloclawek cruised to a 91-73 victory over CSM CSU Oradea, putting the Polish team at 2-0 at the top of Group L. The visitors spread the love around on offense with five players in double figures with Phillip Greene and Josh Bostic top scoring with 17 points apiece.

Gaziantep moved to 2-0 in Group K as they rode a dominant fourth quarter to down Heroes Den Bosch 82-63. Conner Frankamp came up absolutely huge on the road, scoring 34 points with 10-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc, while also dishing out 6 assists, grabbing 5 boards and collecting 3 steals.


Finally, Cholet Basket were the only side to successfully defend their homecourt without an issue as they defeated SCMU Craiova, 75-56.

Dominic Artis and TJ Campbell were joint leading scorers for the winning club with 13 points each, with Kim Tillie leading the way on the glass with 10 rebounds. The Romanian club got a good performance in the loss from Demonte Flannigan as he had a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double.
