Game of the Week: Can SuperCup Women winners Bourges stop USK Praha?

BOURGES (France) - One of Tango Bourges Basket and ZVVZ USK Praha will suffer their first loss of the new EuroLeague Women season as both look to extend their flawless starts to the campaign.

As the reigning EuroCup Women champions and recent first-time SuperCup Women winners, a super tough Bourges welcome a dynamic Praha team that made the Final Four last year and look destined to be a big contender again.

You can watch the live broadcast of the game between Bourges and USK Praha on the EuroLeague Women YouTube channel on Wednesday, November 9 at 20:00 CET.

Form guide: Bourges are 2-0 after beating Olympiacos SFP at home and then claiming an exciting and impressive road success at Virtus Segafredo Bologna. Domestically they are unbeaten and warmed up for this game with a 79-51 hammering of EuroCup Women side Angers.

ZVVZ USK Praha are 2-0 after winning against Atomeromu-TARR KSC Szekszard at home and then winning at Valencia Basket Club last week. They remain a juggernaut in the Czech League and are currently 6-0 and sat in second place after playing one games less than leaders KP Brno.

Last meeting: The teams last faced each other in the abandoned 2019-20 pandemic season when ZVVZ USK Praha won 82-64. They also racked up a super 93-64 road win the last time they were at Le Prado in October 2019 when Alyssa Thomas recorded a performance efficiency valuation of 41 with 31 points, 12 rebounds and 6 steals.

Alyssa Thomas continues to be one of the most dominant players in EuroLeague Women

Key matchup: Alyssa Thomas is a serious tour de force for Praha and has started the season strongly once again, already amassing a spectacular triple-double in the opening game of the season. It will be interesting to see how Bourges try to slow her down and that defensive assignment might go to forward Kayla Alexander who has the strength and size. Or, will they go for someone with quicker feet like Laetitia Guapo to try and match with her in the open court more effectively?

X-factor: Praha love to play fast and loose at times, yet can also play with greater control when they need to, thanks to the string pulling of classy playmaker Teja Oblak. The tempo will be vital because Bourges are unlikely to want to run and gun at the same level. They love to lock teams down with their powerful defense and this could be a clash of styles. Which one is going to win out?
