Who will win the EuroLeague Women Coach of the Year award?

MUNICH (Germany) - The voting for the EuroLeague Women Awards has tipped off and one of the most difficult decisions could be deciding who gets the thumbs up for the Coach of the Year accolade.

There are seven options to choose from in the fan voting and here are three reasons why each of the candidates deserves your vote to help you make your choice.

Valery Demory - LDLC ASVEL Feminin

1. Throughout the season and especially in the opening hubs, LDLC ASVEL Feminin played attractive team basketball and have been good to watch for fans of the women's game.

2. Convincing win against Fenerbahce showed the potential of the team and club, while signing off with a big win at the previously unbeaten Sopron Basket in Quarter-Finals Game 2 was also impressive.

3. Demory masterminded LDLC ASVEL Feminin making the post-season for the second successive campaign, having made it past the Regular Season for the first time in 2019-20.

David Gaspar - Sopron Basket

1. Sopron Basket were flawless during the Regular Season with a 6-0 record and have lost just once all year with a 7-1 overall record.

2. He had to fill huge shoes after his predecessor Roberto Iniguez took Sopron to successive Final Fours and yet Gaspar has delivered and taken the Hungarians to the showpiece event again.

3. He has one of the best records this season, even though he is the youngest coach on the list and only in his second season as a EuroLeague Women playcaller.

Efe Guven - Galatasaray

1. After opening up the season with two losses and looking like they might be in trouble, Guven managed to turn things around and finish the Regular Season with three wins from the last four games.

2. He had to deal with some major roster changes and uncertainty, with leading lights like Courtney Williams and Angel McCoughtry both departing during the season.

3. The playcaller oversaw a victory against fierce city rivals, Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo in the Quarter-Finals Game 2, even if it was not quite enough to advance to the Final Four.

Roberto Iniguez - Perfumerias Avenida

1. Iniguez has guided his team to an unbeaten campaign, with a 6-0 Regular Season and then beating arch-rivals Spar Girona twice in the Quarter-Finals.

2. Perfumerias Avenida will now appear at the Final Four for the first time in a decade.

3. The incredible record of Iniguez has been extended further, with Avenida the fourth club he has taken to the showpiece event in the last 10 years and it will be his 7th appearance.

Alfred Julbe Bosch - Spar Girona

1. The experienced coach took the reins from Eric Suris after the season had already started, so didn't have the luxury of being in the post last summer during the all-important pre-season period.

2. Julbe Bosch ensured the club achieved a historic first-ever Quarter-Finals spot.

3. This was impressive considering that the playcaller has generally been involved with men's teams previously and so this can be considered as a successful transition to the female game.

Victor Lapena - Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo

1. Lapena has brought back hope and the winning mentality to Fenerbahce again after they briefly lost their way in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

2. He has successfully taken Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo back to the Final Four for the first time since 2017, which was perhaps the most important milestone of the season to meet.

3. Now Fenerbahce have an opportunity to strike for the title itself, with the coach having made his team ultra-competitive and found a way to ensure that the side gets maximum benefit from centerpiece Alina Iagupova.

Miguel Mendez - UMMC Ekaterinburg

1. He has guided his UMMC team to an unbeaten campaign so far, with a 6-0 Regular Season, followed by doing the double over Dynamo Kursk in the Quarter-Finals.

2. UMMC play great team basketball and lead the competition in points, shooting and assists.

3. Mendez has managed to successfully rotate his stacked roster so that fans have been able to enjoy seeing all of the biggest stars.
