Day 2: Lebanon, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan book big wins
BENGALURU (FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017) - Day 2 at the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017 Division B saw Kazakhstan continue unbeaten even as Lebanon and Uzbekistan recovered from their opening day losses.
Day 2 in Division B opened with the Lebanese bouncing back from last night's loss with a 90-48 triumph over Women's Asia Cup newcomers Fiji. Miramar Mokdad's double-double line of 14 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks was absolutely splendid, although she did get some help from Nour Schoucair and Chirine El Charif, who paired up for 34 points. Fiji, meanwhile, played just 8 individuals, who were paced by Bulou Koyamainavure's 13 points.
In the day's second match, Kazakhstan continued to roll at the expense of Singapore, 73-52. Both teams had trouble getting on the board in the first quarter, combining for just 15 points, but things picked up in the next two periods, where Kazakhstan outscored the Singaporeans, 44-28, to break the game open. Tamara Yagodkina shone for the victors with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, while Singapore was led by Cheryl Poon, who registered 15 points.
