Poland and Luxembourg win the European Qualifiers

MIES (Switzerland) - The FIBA U17 Skills Challenge 2020 European Qualifiers, taking place from August 13-16, features 10 national teams competing for two tickets to the Global Challenge to be held later in August.

Day 3 - Sunday, August 16

The teams advancing to the FIBA U17 Women's Skills Challenge 2020 could not have been decided by finer margins, with Poland and Luxembourg claiming close-fought wins in the European Qualifiers.

Group A winners Poland saw off a close challenge from Latvia (121-123), while Group B table-toppers Luxembourg crowned their campaign by beating Belarus by a single point, 138-139, on the other side of the bracket.

Day 2 - Friday, August 14

There are no undefeated teams in the European Qualifiers as the race for the two spots in the Global Challenge continues, with Poland, Belarus, Luxembourg and Latvia making it out of the Group Phase with 3-1 records. 

Ireland can consider themselves unlucky, having lost out to Poland and Belarus in a three-way tie despite losing only once in group play.

Day 1 - Thursday, August 13

Poland, Ireland and Luxembourg emerged as the big winners of Day 1 in the European Qualifiers after scoring a pair of wins on Thursday and moving to the top of their respective standings. The Poles and the Irish share the top honors with 2-0 records in Group A, while Luxembourg defeated Latvia and Portugal to take an early lead in Group B.

Poland set the target to beat in Europe, registering a score 123 in a win against Israel.
