Record-breaking Portugal set the pace, Belarus also through to the Global Challenge

MIES (Switzerland) - The FIBA U17 Skills Challenge 2020 European Qualifiers, taking place from August 13-16, features 10 national teams competing for two tickets to the Global Challenge to be held later in August.

Day 3 - Sunday, August 16

Portugal and Belarus snapped up the last remaining tickets to the FIBA U17 Skills Challenge 2020, coming up victorious on the last day of action in the European Qualifiers in record-breaking fashion.

The score of 112, set by Portugal in a 112-126 victory over Ireland, now stands as the new competition best from all Regional Qualifiers. Just off the record pace, Belarus advanced to the Global Challenge with a 113-126 win over Romania.

Day 2 - Friday, August 14

Romania now remain the only unbeaten team in the European Qualifiers after registering a 4-0 mark in Group B to advance into the Finals as favorites, as Portugal moved on as runners-up.  While the luck of the Irish turned its back on Ireland's women's team, the men's side passed their Group Phase test by topping Group A, with Belarus also advancing with a 3-1 record.

Two games on Sunday will determine which of the teams claims the two tickets to the Global Challenge.

Day 1 - Thursday, August 13

There are four undefeated teams in the European Qualifiers, with Belarus and Romania topping the respective Group A and B leaderboards with perfect 2-0 scores. Belarus not only scored wins against Israel and Slovakia but also set the best score of the day with 118, while Romania defeated Georgia and Portugal in their side of the draw.

Also unbeaten, Ireland and Poland picked up wins in Group A to get their campaigns to victorious starts.
