Froling wants to "win and win big" heading into the Gold Medal game
GUAM (FIBA U17 Oceania Championship 2017) – Australia put on a show for the fans against home nation Guam, 155-39. Australia will now face New Zealand in the FIBA U17 Oceania Championship 2017 Gold medal match.
FIBA.basketball spoke to Sam Froling following his 30 point, 8 rebound, and 4 block performance.
Froling believes that if they continue to play the same way that they’ve been, they will be in good stead in the gold medal match.
“I don’t think we need to make too many adjustments. We’ll keep the pressure up and keep playing the same way. We’re in a good spot right now, so not too many adjustments need to be made.”
“We have been playing well as a unit, anyone can be the main guy on any night. We will rely on another team effort to take home the gold.”
Following this event, Australia will move onto the FIBA U18 Asia Championship 2018. Froling is excited to be qualifying through Asia for the first time but still remains as ambitious as ever.
“It’s a great opportunity. It’s something I’ve never done before and it’s something Australia has never done before. However, second isn’t going to satisfy me. I wanna win this thing and win big.”
Tomorrow will tell if Froling’s Australia can take home the gold and regional bragging rights.
