New Caledonia roar back with annual competition

NOUVELLE(New Caledonia) - New Caledonia resumed their development of 3x3 with renewed vigor organizing their national tournament after being postponed in 2020.

The competition featured (TOTAL TEAMS - BOYS AND GIRLS DIVISION) teams held at the Francois Anewy Gym in Vallee du Tir.

"We are very proud to be able to get back to our annual competition, we planned this whole thing since March and to be able to stage it was a great moment for basketball in the country," shared Secretary-General Bridget Delaveuve.

Tournament organizer Jean-Marc Delaveuve gave credit to all the volunteers for the successful staging of the tournament.

"The competition was successful because of countless volunteers that helped out the Federation, from the players, referee and officials," shared Jean-March.

The national tournament also featured 4 individual skill challenges named after French basketball players that include Evan Fournier, Marinne Johannes, Sandrine Garuda and Nicolas Batum.

The skills challenge featured shooting, passing and dribbling exercises.

"These trials require speed and skill and the objectives of these challenges give added motivation to improve their skills," explained Bridget.

The long and arduous road back to 3x3 took a long time, but the New Caledonia Federation is back like it never left.

"We hit a minor road bump but we are back," Bridget excitedly shared. "This is just the beginning we are planning more things soon to help jumpstart our development in the game of basketball."
