Marshall Islands to undergo statistics training in preparation for Micro Games

GOLD COAST (Australia) - The Marshall Islands Basketball Federation (MIBF) in coordination with FIBA organized an online Statistics training course for its table officials in preparation for the 2022 Micronesia Games.

MIBF officials contacted FIBA's regional office in Oceania to organize the 2-day training for its table officials.

"It's a good initiative from MIBF to reach out to us and organize the training course to improve their abilities in tabulating statistics in their local tournaments while giving them ample time of preparation for the 2022 Micronesia Games," shared FIBA Oceania's Development Manager, Annie La Fleur.

"We were in communication with MIBF officials in the last couple of months and glad that we were able to set the dates for the training," she added.

The Statistics training will take place on May 14 and May 21 with FIBA licensed statistician Trish Nicholls administering the training.

Nicholls has been working on FIBA Oceania events for years including the 2019 Pacific Games and will provide valuable knowledge and experience for the participants of the course.

In line with FIBA's objective of empowering National Federations, the course is set to provide assistance for the sport while giving the participants a valuable skillset to improve the quality of the games in the Marshall Islands.

MIBF President Candice Guavis shared her enthusiasm regarding the project which would help them in their preparation for the 2022 Micro Games.

"We are going all-out in our preparation for the Micro Games and we are excited with our partnership with FIBA to prepare our statisticians that will improve the overall quality of the games from an officials standpoint," she shared.

The first session will cover the introduction to the LiveStats program and loading games online while the second session will review the online learning and an open forum to go through scenarios and a question and answer forum.
