Anwil take command of Semi-Final tie, Kalev/Cramo also victorious at home

MUNICH (Germany) - Anwil Wloclawek and BC Kalev/Cramo both secured home wins to open the FIBA Europe Cup Semi-Finals, on Wednesday.

It was a dominant third quarter that helped Anwil take a 90-71 win over Karhu Basket to take into next week's second leg, while Kalev/Cramo secured an 80-73 triumph against Cholet Basket.

Anwil made their move after the half-time break with a 27-13 third period to take control of their tie - having led by as many as 23 points in the contest. Victor Sanders top scored with 19 points with Phillip Greene and Michal Nowakowski adding 16 points apiece as the hosts went 12-of-23 from three-point range.

It leaves Karhu facing a big task to overturn the deficit on home soil next week with Cam Jones having led their effort with 16 points.

Meanwhile, Kalev/Cramo had looked poised to run away from Cholet after a hot start to the fourth before securing a seven-point victory. Wesley Van Beck led the way with 19 points as nine different players put points on the board for the Estonians.

Cholet trailed by as many as 15 points inside the final period, but put together a late surge to cut the deficit. Enzo Goudou-Sinha poured in seven triples in a 23-point performance with Dominic Artis leading all scorers with 26 points on 6-of-9 outside shooting as they helped their side stay in contention.

The second legs both take place next Wednesday when the two aggregate victors will advance to the Finals.
