Day 6 recap: Italy champions in Sofia Challenger and Slovakia take Skopje Challenger title

MUNICH (Germany) - Italy and Slovakia became the latest nations to be crowned champions at the various  FIBA U20 Women's European Challengers after they won titles in Sofia and Skopje, respectively.

Headlines:
- Italy do the business against Latvia to be crowned winners of the Sofia Challenger.
- Still unbeaten Slovakia too hot to handle for North Macedonia as they win Skopje Challenger.
- Greece overwhelm Armenia in the Yerevan Challenger to set up last day title showdown with Ukraine
- Everything still to play for on an exciting last day in the Konya Challenger.
- The curtain falls on the Sopron Challenger with hosts and champions Hungary losing their final game.

Sofia Challenger:



Day 6 results:  Italy used their terrific defense again to take a 56-44 victory against Latvia as they moved to 5-0 to be crowned champions of the Sofia Challenger.
Belgium completed a 70-62 win against Germany with a strong team effort after the bench got it done with a 34 point contribution.
It was a case of fourth time lucky for Croatia as they finally got a victory on the board after outlasting Bulgaria 80-52.

Konya Challenger:



Day 6 results: Poland surprised Russia 75-70 thanks mainly to a double-double from Zuzanna Kulinska of 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Turkey eased their way past Portugal 70-58 as Goksen Fitik paced the win with 19 points.
France are still favorites after they remained pefect by beating Belarus 70-50.

Yerevan Challenger:

Day 6 results: There was joy for Greece as they stepped closer to a potential title in Yerevan by racking up an 88-52 win against hosts Armenia. Lilia Anna Karaksidou fired 22 points and her teammate Kalli Michailidou had an eye-catching 12 points and 16 rebounds. They will now play Ukraine on the last day to decide who takes the top podium step.
Albania were no match for Switzerland who powered their way to a huge 116-52 success. That was despite 33 points in defeat from Klea Verri. Switzerland had 7 players in double-digits led by 28 points from Emma Chardon.

Sopron Challenger:

Day 6 results: Spain finished on a high in Sopron as they inflicted a first loss of the tournament on Challenger winners Hungary. 20 points from Estel Puiggros Rovira and 18 points from Nora Galve Batet helped to seal a 65-57 win.
Israel claimed an impressive 62-53 win against Serbia after locking down their opponents to just 7 points in the last period. Yarden Garzon had a stellar 24 points and 13 rebounds.
Czech Republic condemned Ireland to a winless campaign as they completed a comfortable 115-60 win after Tereza Kralkova accumulated 15 points and 16 rebounds.

Skopje Challenger:

Day 6 results: Slovakia are yet to taste defeat and are celebrating being crowned champions of the Skopje Challenger on the penultimate day of action after they coasted past North Macedonia 75-44. Meanwhile Eva Petrof netted 25 points to inspire Romania to an 80-64 win against Kosovo.
