UMMC Ekaterinburg and Nadezhda Orenburg to contest SuperCup Women 2019

MUNICH (Germany) - The reigning EuroLeague Women champions UMMC Ekaterinburg will host fellow Russian club Nadezhda Orenburg, winners of the most recent EuroCup Women campaign, for the SuperCup Women 2019 title.

The season-opening tournament returns to Ekaterinburg for the second year in a row, having seen the local side capture the trophy in 2018 after defeating Turkish club Galatasaray Istanbul.

This upcoming edition of the SuperCup Women will take place on October 10, 2019 at 19:00 local time  (14:00 GMT) at the DIVS Sport Hall.

Having triumphed in EuroLeague Women in three of the past four seasons, UMMC Ekaterinburg crowned a dominant 2018-19 campaign by cruising past Dynamo Kursk in the Final. It was their fifth EuroLeague Women title.

They also extended their reign in the domestic championship by claiming their 11th consecutive Russian Women's Basketball Premier League title.

Meanwhile, last season's EuroCup Women triumph against BLMA saw Nadezhda Orenburg add their first piece of continental silverware to their trophy cabinet.

The SuperCup Women has been dominated by EuroLeague Women clubs, who have won all eight SuperCup Women titles since the competition was launched.
