A EuroLeague Women legend is ready to make her surprise return to the competition

BOURGES (EuroLeague Women) - Legendary EuroLeague Women playmaker Laia Palau will make an emotional return to the competition after completing a move back to Bourges Basket where she played near the start of her illustrious career.

Having retired from the competition at last year's Final Four while wearing the colors of ZVVZ USK Praha, Palau will now look to try and continue the recent renaissance of their Group A rivals, Bourges.

The French club started the campaign in disastrous fashion, but have been superb in the past month or so as they bid to  turn their season around. However, their good work had been threatened by injuries to Sarah Michel and Cristina Ouvina, with Palau brought in to replace her fellow Spaniard.

It is also likely that Palau, who has been playing this season in Australia, will now have a question mark hanging over her head when it comes to her status with the Spanish national team.

She had also looked set to retire from the international game at FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017, but with the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup taking place in her homeland - what price a return?
