Iagupova shoots her way to Top Performer honors
MUNICH (Germany) - Stopping Cukurova Basketbol seems an impossible task, with the undefeated Turkish team cruising to yet another victory to tip-off the Round of 8 in style.
The Ceyhun Yildizoglu-coached side claimed a 93-73 triumph at Wisla CANPACK, as Ukraine international Alina Iagupova laid the foundation for the success with her best game of the season. Her haul of 30 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals resulted in a week-high efficiency rating of 28 and Top Performer honors.
She is joined in the backcourt by another usual suspect, with BLMA standout Samantha Whitcomb making her fifth appearance in the Team of the Week. The Australian guard went for 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists, as BLMA showed their intent with a 64-50 first-leg win at Galatasaray.
On the other end, Lithuanian big Monika Grigalauskyte did her best to keep the defending champions in the game, her big 16-point, 15-rebound double-double earning her a spot in the Top Performer lineup.
Competition debutantes Lyon ASVEL Feminin put one foot in the Quarter-Finals with a resounding 95-68 win against fellow French side Tarbes GB. Among several outstanding performances, Michelle Plouffe and Alysha Clark got the nod for the Team of the Week, filling the forward positions.
