Germany's defensive plan works better to beat Italy, among top 16 teams for first time since 2011
TEL AVIV (FIBA EuroBasket 2017) - Germany booked their ticket to the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Round of 16 after beating Italy 61-55 in Group B in Tel Aviv.
Germany, who got 17 points from Dennis Schroder and 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists from Johannes Voigtmann, executed their defensive game plan better than the Italians. Italy's star combo of Marco Belinelli and Luigi Datome combined for just 21 points on 7-of-28 shooting, including 3-of-15 from long range. Ariel Filloy paced the Italians with 15 points.
Germany are 3-1 in Group B and Italy are 2-2.
