The FIBA Open – An Exciting Event
This annual event takes place on the weekend of FIBA’s anniversary (18 June 1932). Previous event have encountered a roaring success with a great atmosphere surrounding the playing courts.
Many people from the nearby French and Swiss region come together at the House of Basketball to dive into the world of 3x3 and visit the Hall of Fame and the exhibition space retracing the history of Basketball and FIBA. Different activities make the event attractive to all.
The Organizing Committee, with over 100 volunteers, work relentlessly for this event to meet the promises of a celebration where visitors and players can come together in a relaxed family atmosphere.
“The FIBA Open is one of the missions of the Foundation and 3x3 basketball is at the core of its activities” declared Yvan Mainini. “These initiatives have a strong social aspect. The aim of the event is to present FIBA to the region using 3x3 basketball.”
The 2022 FIBA Open
The 8th FIBA Open will take place at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, on June 18 and 19 2022.
Registrations will open in December.
The registration fee is CHF 10.- per child for U5 and U7 (individual registration), CHF 80.- per team for all other categories. In return, each player will receive a reversible Basketball jersey (value CHF 50.-). All profits from the event will be used by the FIBA Foundation in its humanitarian projects.
For the U5 and U7, each child should be registered individually and will take part in 3 activities throughout the day.
In parallel to the event, an Open House of the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball will take place, as well as activities with food and drinks for families, friends and anyone keen to discover the world of basketball.
How to get there: The House of Basketball is located in Mies, Switzerland (Route Suisse 5, 1295 Mies) by Lake Geneva. Public Transport: Mies train station is 300 m away from the House of Basketball. By car: either by the « Route du Lac » approximately 20 minutes from downtown Geneva, or by the Geneva-Lausanne highway, Coppet exit.
