Lange summons 16 players in surprise first squad at helm of Russia

MOSCOW (FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers) – Olaf Lange will have plenty of talent at his disposal as head coach of Russia in this month's FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers, but there will also be some missing faces.
The UMMC Ekaterinburg play-caller has a 16-player squad to choose from. but it does not include the likes of Elena Kirillova, Natalia Zhedik or the naturalized Epiphanny Prince.
Preparing to congregate on Monday, the standout names include teenage ace Maria Vadeeva who headlines the candidates, along with a number of other EuroLeague Women participants.

Vadeeva is just one of several players from Russia's FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup winning side, with Raisa Musina, Daria Kurilchik and Viktoriia Zavialova also on the list.
Lange will still be able to call on plenty of experience such as Elena Beglova, Evgenia Belyakova and Natalia Vieru who he works with at UMMC, as well as the likes of Tatiana Vidmer of Dynamo Kursk.
Russia will go up against Albania, Lithuania and Hungary in Group C, facing the first two of those teams during this forthcoming window.
