RIGA (EuroBasket 2015) - Jonas Valanciunas will miss Lithuania's EuroBasket 2015 Group D game against Estonia on Wednesday night.

The star center, who is averaging 19.7 points-per-game and 10 rebounds in the competition so far, was taken ill during practice on Tuesday, showing a high temperature.

The 23-year-old missed his team's pre-game practice on Wednesday and is undergoing treatment at the team hotel. He could return for Thursday's final group game against Czech Republic.

"After training yesterday his temperature climbed quite high, he is receiving medication and lying in bed at the hotel and we hope that tomorrow he will be able to play. Today, certainly not," team doctor Vytenis Trumpickas told DELFI.lt.

"He picked up a virus somewhere, where we cannot answer, perhaps just after the workout he went out and caught a cold, he has a high temperature, feeling ill.

"We are trying all possible means, liquids, food and medicine and we believe that tomorrow he will be able to play.

"But how the body responds to the treatment, it is difficult to say."

Asked whether other players are at risk of catching the suspected virus, Trumpickas said: "It's hard to say. Low probability, but there is always a risk when there is a virus that has infected someone."
