VILNIUS (EuroBasket) - Lithuania head coach Kestutis Kemzura has put his faith in youth as he named a provisional squad for the EuroBasket, which will be played on home soil.
While eight veterans from last year’s bronze-medal winning team at the FIBA World Championship are included, there is a heavy accent on younger players.
"The date of birth in a player's passport doesn't matter to me," said Kemzura.
He has called up 20 players, expanding the group at the last minute as there are several questions to be answered during this summer’s training camps.
"Before midnight, there were 18 candidates, but we decided to expand the list a bit," he explained.
The players will gather for a training camp in Druskininkai starting on July 18.
Lithuania are in Group A along with defending champions Spain, Poland, Turkey, Great Britain and a qualifier.
