PARIS (FIBA World Championship) - France coach Claude Bergeaud has added five players to his squad for the FIBA World Championship ahead of a training camp which gets underway next week.
Yannick Bokolo, Stephen Brun, Michel Morandais, Ronny Turiaf and Johan Petro will join what is now a 17-man squad in preparing for this summer's tournament, which takes place in Japan from August 19 to September 3.
"These five players were chosen because they complement the already-existing group," Bergeaud told basketfrance.com.
Brun and Turiaf were selected following their recent good performances with the France 'A' side.
Morandais helped Carpisa Napoli to the Lega A finals in Italy, while Bokolo contested the French Pro A finals with Le Mans.
Bergeaud's squad is now due to meet in Divonne-les-Bains next Monday. However, Bergeaud is expected to reduce his squad to 14 by the end of July and 13 before the start of a warm-up tournament in China.
He will then announce his final 12-man squad a few days before the start of the FIBA World Championship.
France will play a friendly against Switzerland on July 17 before travelling to Strasbourg to take on Senegal, Lithuania and China from July 21 to 23.
