Devoe Joseph of Pickering, Ont., had 17 points and Brampton's Olu Ashaolu added 14 as the Canadian men's under-18 basketball team beat China 109-81 Friday at the Albert Schweitzer tournament.
Max Zuyderhoff-Craig of Montreal added 10 point and 10 rebounds for Canada (3-3), which concluded the tournament on a winning note, outscoring the Chinese 24-5 in the second quarter en route to the easy victory.
"I was really proud of our guys for bouncing back after a tough game against Spain," said head coach Greg Francis. "We showed improved team play and had significant contributions from all our players.
The Canadians asserted themselves well in the six-team tournament, earning wins over Italy and Israel while hanging tough in losses to powerhouses Greece and Serbia and Montenegro.
"I was happy with our performance here in Germany," said Francis. "This team is now more prepared to play against the top countries in the world."
Zhou Peng led China with nine points.
Canada's next action will be at the Global Games, taking place June 19-24 in Dallas.
