    BELARUS
    WOMEN’S OLYMPIC BASKETBALL, 2008

    Team Characteristics
Active, hard playing team that operates as a tight knit unit. Their versatility and skills offensively
make them a threat to score in bunches. By creating disruptions defensively, they can dictate the
tempo and set the pace of the game. Team with excellent ball skills at all positions. Well versed at
exposing the weakness of the opponent especially defensively. Use the entire floor to establish their
game and force the opponent to play from baseline to baseline also.

    Offensive Tendencies
Multi-talented offensive team that can score from all spots on the floor, especially in the post.
Balance of inside and outside scoring makes the floor hard to cover for the defense. Pass is passed
to post and out of post with equal results. Efficient use of on ball screens with guards shooting over
the screen successfully. Post score in the mid post with turn around jump shots and up and under
moves. Perimeter players make good use of the shot fake and create offense after the fake.

    Transition
Intent on pushing the ball hard down the floor on missed shots. Guards leak out down the f
oor on missed shots for lay ups. At least one post runs hard down the middle of the floor for feeds
from the wing for lay ups. Like to penetrate and kick for open threes if not able to get to the basket.

    Set Plays
    1. Double cutters off high post, ball reversal, small/big cross screen for post up
    2. Guard cuts to lane, replace cut and catch with baseline cross screen for shot
    3. 1-4 high set, post entry and back door cut for lay up
    Out of Bounds
A triple stack on the ball side lane line sets up a back door cut and double
screen for perimeter shooter. Other options include quick ball reversal and dribble drive to the paint
or on ball screen. If post player receives the ball in bounds on strong side it may be followed by a
    post up on the block.

    Zone Offense
Sets is 3 out/2 in or 4 out against zones. They keep the zone moving with player and ball movement.
Make good use of dribble penetration to draw two defenders and hit next open teammate. Pass and
cut tendencies make the zone accountable at all times. Good perimeter shooting and inside/outside
balance make defense work hard for stops.

    Team Defense
Very aggressive, gambling defense that forces uptempo play by the opponent. In the half court they
pressure the ball, double the post and rotate from the weak side to steal passes and disrupt the flow
of the offense. Full court man to man and zone presses force several passes and force the offense
into many decisions. They force the action wity their full court scheme and keep the opponent off
balance and hurry them into quick shots.
