Brazil impressive in blowout win over Paraguay

SAO PAULO (Brazil) – Brazil made a big statement to open their FIBA AmeriCup 2025 Qualifiers with a dominant showing over Paraguay in Group B, 108-43.
The runners-up from the last edition of the FIBA AmeriCup in 2022 were in charge from the opening tip-off as they raced out to a 14-1 lead halfway through the first quarter and kept their foot on the gas pedal, scoring 30 points and 33 points in the final two quarters and extending their lead out to as many as 65 points.

Three players scored in double figures for the victors led by Yago Santos (22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 8-of-17 FG, 6-of-15 3P), Bruno Caboclo (12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 4-of-4 FG) and Lucas Diaz (16 points, 2 rebounds, 4-of-9 3P).
Marcio Santos chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field off the bench and Georginho De Paula added a well-rounded stat line of 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

All 12 players got into the scoring column for Brazil as they raced up and down the court with 38 fast break points. They put the ball in the basket at an efficient rate, converting 56.5 percent of their total shots.
They also assisted on 28 of their 39 made shots and had a decisive advantage in rebounds (54-27).
On the flip side, Paraguay only got 25.4 percent of their overall shots to fall and 15 percent of their attempts from three-point. Their top scorer was Adolfo Lopez who recorded 9 points.
These two teams will square off again in a rematch on Monday where Paraguay will host at SND Arena in the capital city of Asuncion.
