SAN JUAN (Centrobasket U15) – The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in the Americas announced that Patillas will host the 2016 Centrobasket U15 Championship.

Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and the host, Puerto Rico, will play on Puerto Rican soil from August 24-28, to determine the three teams that will qualify to the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

Following the Draw, the teams were divided in two groups:

Group A: Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico
Group B: Dominican Republic, Panama, Guyana, Trininad and Tobago

The top two teams from each group advance to the Semifinal Phase where winners will play for the gold medal of the championship. The losing teams will play for third place.

After the conclusion of the Group Phase, teams in third place will play at the 5th place game.
