Group A featuring Real Estelí from Nicaragua, Cangrejeros of Puerto Rico, and the Edmonton Stingers from Canada - will be pre-assigned to their group due to geographical and logistical reasons.
The remaining nine clubs - CR Flamengo, Minas, and São Paulo FC from Brazil, Boca Juniors, Obras Basket, and A.A. Quimsa from Argentina, Club Biguá and Club Nacional from Uruguay, and Basket UdeC from Chile - will be drawn into groups B, C, and D. There will be no two clubs from the same country drawn into the same group.
"Developing and elevating International Club competition is one of FIBA's main strategic priorities. It is an honor for us to enter the third season of such a pivotal league with the inclusion of two new countries, Canada (Edmonton Stingers) and Puerto Rico (Cangrejeros). BCL Americas keeps solidifying its position as the most important international basketball league in the Americas," added Carlos Alves, the Executive Director for FIBA in the Americas.
