The FIBA U18 Women’s African Championship is the youth topflight women team’s tournament of the International Basketball Federation’s African Region.
The inaugural edition of this 12-team championship was held in 1985 in Accra, Ghana, where Senegal clinched their maiden continental title in this age category.
To date, Mali has won the most titles, triumphing 6 times in 13 editions. On their side, Senegal and DR Congo have two titles under their belt.
This biennale tournament serves as showcase for the best African young players.
This year, the competition will take place in the Mozambican capital city of Maputo. This will be the second time that the country hosts the event after the 1996 edition.
The FIBA U18 Women’s African Championship 2018 will serve as a qualifier for the FIBA U19 World Championship 2019.
