Round of 16 matchups confirmed at U19 Women's World Cup

BANGKOK (Thailand) - The path towards the Final of the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2019 is set as the conclusion of the Group Phase on Tuesday finalized the Round of 16 lineup.

Four teams remain unbeaten in the competition as Belgium, Latvia, Spain and USA all racked up 3-0 records to win their respective groups.

USA showed their teeth and reiterated their top billing in the competition, with a ruthless 95-50 demolition of Hungary. They racked up a tournament high 11 blocks in the contest, with Fran Belibi impressive as she claimed an 11 point and 13 rebound double-double, while Rhyne Howard drilled 18 points.  They will now meet Germany in the Round of 16.

Latvia had to work hard to see off Mozambique but All-Star Five candidate Laura Meldere brought the noise once again with another fine double-double. She paced a 68-54 victory with a towering 21 points and 17 rebounds and Latvia will clash with Mali in the next stage.

Belgium cruised to a third win in as many games as Billie Massey starred once again in a 69-40 triumph against the still winless Mali. She harvested 18 points and 11 rebounds in another power-packed effort to set up an encounter with hosts, Thailand.

Spain knew they would top the Group D before a ball was bounced and they preserved their 100 percent record by beating Germany 56-49. They will play Korea on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, an all-Americas stand-off will feature in the Round of 16 between Canada and Argentina. The former took a 75-49 success against Thailand and Argentina suffered 74-49 at the hands of China, who are now pitched against Mozambique.
