Tickets for Quarter-Finals up for grabs

UDINE/CIVIDALE DEL FRIULI (FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World up 2017) - The knockout stage of the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2017 has arrived and there's no room for error for any nation wanting a precious Quarter-Finals berth.

The Round of 16 matchups have thrown up some opportunities for upsets and some evenly matched ties, as all participants try to make the last eight of the competition.

You can follow live updates of all games throughout the day via our blog.

Korea vs Japan

This Asian derby could be exciting even if Japan are unbeaten and their rivals are winless. They had similar rosters at the FIBA Asia U18 Women's Championship 2016 when they won one game each, but Korea don't have Park Jisu, while Japan have the in-form Stephanie Mawuli.

Canada vs Mexico

Another familiar clash, this Americas duo sees Canada flawless and the best rebounding side in the competition. Mexico turn the ball over more than anybody else and were beaten by more than 30 points at U18 level by Canada last year. It would be a huge upset if they did it.

France vs Hungary

This all-European showdown pitches together two opponents that go to work with faith in their respective team ethics, rather than via standout stars. Hungary score 14 more points per game than France, so it could be a classic offense against defense.

Latvia vs Australia

Even if Australia ripped Hungary to shreds and are a title frontrunner behind the terrific Eziyoda Magbegor, it's arguably more closely matched than some may think. Latvia are dangerous and only just lost to Canada, while they have their own centerpiece in forward Digna Strautmane.

USA vs Puerto Rico

With Puerto Rico the only team not averaging at least more than 50 points per game, anything other than a massive USA win is a shock. This could be where the defending champions get the chance to do some fine-tuning - although they won't be taking it lightly by any means.

Mali vs Russia

Russia have the razor-sharp and highly efficient one-two under the hoop punch of Maria Vadeeva and Raisa Musina. The fact they are the leading scorers and have the most rebounds only further underlines the scale of the task facing Mali.

China vs Egypt

With Wang Jiaqi leading the competition in assists and Han Xu excelling in the frontcourt, China look strong. But Egypt have their own star in tournament leading scorer Meral Abdelgawad so they need to be respected after beating Puerto Rico and pushing Spain hard.

Italy vs Spain

This Round of 16 tie is the game of the day on paper. One of these European heavyweights will be left very disappointed. Home support could work in Italy's favor. Martina Fassina is a player for the big occasion who could be a difference-maker, while Spain can never be written off.
